About this hymn

Father Joseph Mohr and schoolteacher Franz Gruber first sang "Stille Nacht" on Christmas Eve 1818 at St. Nicholas Church in Oberndorf, Austria, with Gruber playing guitar. It has since been translated into hundreds of languages.
